Biryani kurma with coconut milk | how to make kurma

This is a traditional veg biryani kurma with coconut milk recipe from Avo Avo with a south Indian flavour. This is also called the veg biryani chalna recipe in the southern part of India and goes well with biryani.

How to make Coconut milk:

  1. Grind the chopped coconut with warm water
  2. Remove the milk by squeezing the coconut grind. Repeat step 1 and step 2 for at least three times.
  3. Now coconut milk is ready

How to make kurma:

  1. Ghee, bay leaf, Lavang, green elachi, cinnamon stick – saute it
  2. Onion, green chill, garlic, ginger – saute it
  3. Tomato, salt, mint leaves, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, saute it
  4. Add water and salt as required
  5. Add coconut milk and water as required, cook for 5 min.
  6. Add coriander leaves
  7. Coconut milk kurma is ready

  • Pure Ghee – 3 tsp
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Bay Leaf – 2

Cooking Tips:

  • Avoid pressing hard while making batter(atta)
  • Oil temp should be medium during deep fry
  • Stuffing should be dry
  • Use hand while making round shape kachori, if you are comfortable
