You can make jeera/cumin water by boiling or soaking the seeds.

 

Method 1: Boiling

  1. Add 5 litres of drinking water to a boiling pot.
  2. Add2 teaspoons of jeera/cumin seeds to the water.
  3. Turn the heat on (high flame) and boil the contents for about 20 minutes.
  4. Turn off the heat and keep the pot aside to cool down.
  5. Strain the cumin water into serving cups or bottles.
  6. Your cumin water is ready!

Method 2: Soaking

  1. Add a teaspoon of cumin to a glass of drinking water.
  2. Leave the seeds overnight to soak.
  3. The next morning, discard the seeds and drink the water on an empty stomach.

Jeera Rice preparation:

  1. Take a vessel, add water, add rice, rinse it properly, and after removing the rinse water, now add fresh water to soak the rice for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Drain the water and separate the soaked rice.
  3. Take one kadai / pan in low flame, add pure ghee, wait for ghee to get melted, add cinnamon stick, add bay leaves, cloves, green cardamom, red chilli, saute it in low flame.
  4. Now add soaked rice, mix is well, saute it for 1 min
  5. Add rice soaked water 1.5 to 2 cup, mix it, stir it well, add salt as required, mix it well.
  6. Cover with lid, cook for 5 min with high flame.
  7. Remove the lid, stir the mix for uniformity, and then cover the lid, cook in low flame for 5 min.
  8. Check the rice for its cook, then stop cooking.
  9. Close lid and allow it for 10 min.
  10. Transfer to cumin rice to serving bowl and topping with coriander leaves to improve your serving experience.

What are the ingredients for jeera rice?

  • Basmati rice – 1 cup
  • Fresh water – 1.5 to 2 cup (depending of rice quality)
  • Pure Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Bay leaf – 1 pc
  • Cinnamon stick – 2 inch – 1 pc
  • Cloves – 2 pc
  • Green Cardamom – 1 pc
  • Black Pepper (crushed) – ½ tsp (approx. 5 number)
  • Black Pepper – ½ tsp (approx 5 number)
  • Cumin (jeera) seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Dry red chilli – 1 pc
  • Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
